SYNOPSIS: Loosely based on Shakespeare’s TWELFTH NIGHT, it’s 1955 and into a square little town rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Featuring mega hits from the beloved Elvis® catalogue this musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”. All Shook Up is more than just a musical—it’s a vibrant, joyous celebration of the power of love, the power of music, and the power of community.

CHAD: (m; strong solo & parts singer; tenor) A great-lookin’, motorcyclin’, guitar-playin’, leather-jacketed roustabout. Chad comes to town and shakes things up for everyone. Mistakenly falls in love with Sandra.

NATALIE HELLER / “ED”: (f; strong solo & parts singer; mezzo-belt) A young woman and an excellent mechanic. She is much more at home in greasy overalls than in a dress. Disguises herself as a troublemaker named “Ed” to try and get closer to Chad.

DENNIS: (m; strong solo & parts singer; tenor) Natalie’s best friend and secret admirer. He is wide-eyed, awkward, an aspiring dentist, and a hopeless romantic. Nerd with a heart of gold.

MAYOR MATILDA HYDE: (f; strong solo singer; alto) The town’s ULTRA-conservative mayor. She doesn’t like Chad and is determined to get the bad influences of rock ‘n’ roll out of her town. An over-bearing “Karen” type.

DEAN HYDE: (m; strong solo singer; tenor) Matilda’s son. He has spent his youth at military boarding schools and has never disobeyed his mother. He falls in love with Lorraine, who is from the other side of town, and his mother does not approve.

LORRAINE: (f; strong solo singer; mezzo-belt) Sylvia’s teenage daughter who works at the HONKY TONK. Pretty, smart, and a total romantic. Falls head over heels for Dean and convinces him to rebel against his mother for the first time ever.

SYLVIA: (f; strong solo singer; alto) Lorraine’s mother. The no-nonsense owner of “SYLVIA’S HONKY-TONK”. She is like a mother to Natalie and doesn’t let Matilda push her around. She is strong, sassy, and outspoken.

MISS SANDRA: (f; strong solo & parts singer; mezzo-belt) The bookish, intellectual caretaker of the town’s museum who accidentally falls for “Ed”. She is relentlessly pursued by Chad, whom she cannot stand.

SHERRIF EARL: (m; non-singing lead) The law in town and a man of VERY few words. He loyally follows the Mayor wherever she goes. Great role for a comedic actor.

TEENAGE “HEARTBREAKERS”: (any gender; short solo singers) Featured teen soloists in “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Blue Suede Shoes”

THE ANGELS: (f; strong harmony singers) Featured backup singers in “Devil in Disguise”.

“THE STATUE GARDEN”: (any gender; strong harmony singers) Featured backup singers in “Don’t Be Cruel”

TEEN ENSEMBLE: Teenagers of the town who learn to break out of their shells and have fun thanks to Chad and his roustabout ways. Featured in “Heartbreak Hotel”, “C’mon Everybody”, & “Blue Suede Shoes”

ADULT ENSEMBLE: The adults of the town who are loyal to Matilda, but eventually come around to their kids’ way of thinking. Featured in “Jailhouse Rock”, “Now or Never”, & “Devil in Disguise”.
